Daniel Glanz Biography
Daniel's artistic talents have been apparent since his childhood when he took every opportunity to draw his surroundings and create artwork for anyone who asked. He attended Colorado State University and Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and illustrated for the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama early in his career.
His passion for travel has taken him to destinations including the Antarctic, the Galapagos Islands, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island in the south
Atlantic, Central and South America and Africa. He draws much of his inspiration from these experiences as well as from the ridge top home he shares with his wife and dogs in the foothills of Colorado.
Over the years, his carefully sculpted work has been exhibited throughout the country. He is an Elected Member of the National Sculpture Society and a
Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists, and has been included in shows from New York City to Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina, the Tampa Art Museum, the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum and San Diego Museum of Natural History to name a few.
His sculpture was also exhibited in the prestigious "Birds in Art" show at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin. Some of his permanently installed public works include "Bullheaded" in Benson Sculpture Park in Loveland, "Green Heron" at the Wildlife Experience Museum in Parker, Colorado, "Catfish" with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for installation in Little Rock, Arkansas, and his Border Collie, "On the Go" at the Longmont Humane Society in Longmont, Colorado. His sculpture graces many other collections both nationally and internationally.
His work has received many awards over the years, and has been featured in
two new books in 2010. Sculpture of the Rockies published by Southwest Art
and Best of America – Sculpture Artists by Kennedy Publishing.
His work can be viewed at Saks Galleries in Denver, Colorado, Cogswell Gallery in
Vail, Colorado and the Squash Blossom Gallery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
