Carol Jenkins Biography

As a child, Carol Jenkins' home was filled with the beautiful paintings of her great- grandmother, an artist, whose resume included painting "en plein air" in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the 1890's. Inspired and encouraged by her creative Massachusetts family, she always knew she wanted to be an artist.

She received the National Scholastic Art Scholarship while in high school providing the opportunity to extensively study painting at Vesper George School of Art and the prestigious School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

Struck with a bit of wanderlust in her early twenties, Carol headed west and discovered the raw beauty of the Rocky Mountains. She quickly settled in the historic mining town of Ward, Colorado where she lives to this day. The majestic mountains and the mosaic of rustic old buildings that surround her home always inspire her.

Carol worked in pastels for many years before returning "to the brush". She invigorated her return to oil painting by studying with great artists including George Strickland, Skip Whitcomb, Matt Smith, Carolyn Anderson and numerous others.

A passion and skill for plein air painting has infused her work with a style that is always boldly spontaneous and fresh, She is a nationally recognized artist exhibiting in galleries as far as Connecticut, has numerous awards to her credit and has participated in many, many exhibitions. Most recently, her work was featured in the February 2012 issue of Southwest Art Magazine.
